Christopher J. Powell

Dr. Christopher Powell has been a dedicated member of the Richmond Valley Veterinary Practice team since July 2005, when he first joined as an assistant. After completing his veterinary education, he returned as a doctor in July 2010, bringing his passion for animal care back to the practice where his career began.

Dr. Powell earned his undergraduate degree from Wagner College, where he pursued a double major in biology and chemistry. He then continued his studies at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.

Dr. Powell finds great fulfillment in the opportunity to inform, teach, and support families in caring for their beloved pets. He is also passionate about guiding and educating future generations of young people who are interested in pursuing careers in veterinary medicine.

What Dr. Powell treasures most about his work at Richmond Valley Veterinary Practice is the privilege of getting to know multiple generations of clients and their families. He considers it an honor to care for their cherished family members throughout the years, building lasting relationships that span decades.

Outside of his veterinary practice, Dr. Powell enjoys keeping freshwater fish. However, his greatest joy comes from spending time with his wife and children. He considers being a husband and father his most important role in life, describing it as his “first job.”

Dr. Powell’s commitment to both his professional calling and his family reflects the caring, dedicated approach he brings to everything he does—whether he’s treating a patient in the clinic or spending quality time at home.
